Chances are that since before you even started kindergarten, you
knew about firemen and paramedics, what their jobs are, and how
to call them in case of an emergency. You learned to respect those
who served your community through the local emergency services.
But what you might not have realized is just how much Grant Award
Program funding has contributed to making the tri-state area a
safer and more secure place for you and the people you love. Beyond
the grants we’ve given the Key West EMS services, we’ve
donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of new and upgraded
emergency-response equipment to police, ambulance, fire, and emergency-response
departments throughout the tri-state area. Some examples are the “Jaws of Life” in Bellevue, Iowa;
a new water truck used to respond to fires in Dickeyville, Wisconsin;
and even equipment for the Dubuque Composite Squadron that will
help them locate and assist downed or missing aircraft. The ready
help of the women and men providing emergency services in the tri-state
area combined with substantial assistance from Grant Award Program
funding have worked together to make this a safe, secure place
to live.
