The Dubuque Racing Association is an important member of the community and is proud of its history of giving back, and the giving continues.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the community, the DRA supports a broad range of not-for-profit organizations through its Grant Award Program. This annual program has distributed $20 million to area charitable organizations since the inception of the DRA.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must be an IRS-approved tax-exempt non-profit as described in the Internal Revenue Code 501 (c) (3) or equivalent tax-exempt status. Other status such as 501 (c) (4), 501 (c) (5) or 501 (c) (7) is not acceptable. Organizations are not allowed to “share” or “borrow” a 501 (c) (3) status with another organization. The name on the application must match the name on the IRS-issued letter. Only one application per 501 (c) (3) or equivalent tax-exempt status will be accepted.

Individual schools, churches or volunteer fire departments will not have a separate tax-exempt certificate. They are exempted by either law or fall under a blanket exemption because of their ties to a municipality.

Cities/villages/towns are allowed one application. A letter from the city administrator endorsing the project must be attached to the application.

AREA OF INTEREST
The DRA will consider grant applications covering a wide range of community needs with a focus on arts, culture and recreation, education, health and human services, emergency services, civic and community development and the promotion of dog-, horse- or other livestock-breeding industries. The DRA will remain flexible to an respond to an applicant’s unique request.
